" I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me." - John 17:23

John 17:23 is a prayer of Jesus on behalf of his followers.  The expressed desire of Christ’s prayer is that his followers would be characterized by a divinely empowered oneness to the degree that a watching world would understand God’s love for them and be drawn to faith in Christ.

However, the oneness Jesus prays for isn’t exclusively meant for local church application.  The most foundational expression of the Church is the relationship between a husband and his wife.  After describing the sacrificial love, respect, and submission that are to characterize a marriage relationship the Apostle Paul writes, “This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church” (Ephesians 5:32).  Therefore, one of the primary applications for Jesus’ prayer on behalf of his followers is for oneness in their marriage relationship.

Perfectly One will be a cohort of couples who love Jesus and desire to deepen their relationship with him and with each other.  Over the course of 12 months Debra and I will invest our lives in these couples, trusting God to use our interactions to:

• Help couples recognize the ways God has been uniquely preparing you to serve him.
• Assist couples in identifying the unique mission and vision of your marriage.
• Equip couples with tools to personally discover the rich truths of God’s word for a lifetime.
• Strengthen the spiritual vitality and fruitfulness of each couple’s walk with Jesus
• Enhance the joy and intimacy of their prayer life individually and as a couple.
• Inspire couples to risk letting God have his way in your lives.

The wonderful “unknown” component of our year-long journey together will be the lasting friendships that develop, the memories that will be made, and how God will use each couple to impart something special into all of our lives.

Perfectly One – A New 2023 Cohort

A new cohort of Perfectly One is forming to begin in February 2023. The cohort will meet monthly for 12 months as a group via Zoom. Each couple will also have a monthly personal meeting with Tracy and Debra (24 encounters over 12 months).  Each group gathering will be for up to two hours, while the individual appointments will be an hour.  The next cohort will run from February 2023 – January 2024.
