LifeHouse

The following statements describe the rich imagery of the phrase “LifeHouse”.

1)  LifeHouse is a description of every believer in Jesus.

  • You are Jesus’ home – the Lord of Life dwells in you.

Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.” – John 14:23

  • Jesus is your home – every believer is “in Christ” and “Abides in Christ” (John 15)

“So you should think of yourselves as no longer controlled by sin, but instead as alive and connected to God through Christ Jesus.” – Romans 6:11

2)  LifeHouse is a home where Jesus (the way, the truth and the life) is present – it is a home where people encounter Jesus (life) together, growing in their relationship with him and with one another.

“Now as Jesus and his followers were traveling, they arrived at a village. A woman named Martha warmly invited Jesus into her home. Martha had a sister named Mary, who chose to sit at the Lord’s feet and listen to his teachings.” – Luke 10:38-39

3)  LifeHouse is a gathering of believers in a home – a simple expression of the Body of Christ.

“To Philemon our dear coworker and Apphia our sister, as well as Archippus our fellow soldier, and the church in your home” – Philemon 1:1-2

“Aquila and Priscilla, along with the church in their house, send you warm greetings in the Lord.” – 1 Corinthians 16:19

“And every day, they continued to teach and share the good news of Jesus, both in the temple and from house to house.” – Acts 5:42

4)  LifeHouse is a network of homes within a neighborhood, a city, or a region devoted to Jesus, Jesus’ people, and Jesus’ mission.

5)  LifeHouse is part of a larger movement of Jesus’ Spirit upon Jesus’ people who yearn for fresh expressions of what it means to be Jesus’ Church.  It involves prayer that operates comfortably in the supernatural; Kingdom strategies that help people far from God become committed followers of Jesus and then make disciples of others; leadership development that honors and mobilizes a wide array of gifts to sustain the movement; fresh expressions of apostolic mission structures and local church structures being multiplied to steward the fruit of the movement; resulting in cultural transformation as the power and presence of the Kingdom of God, through the people of God, touches and influences culture.
